Religious Education

Religious Education INTENT statement

At Little Horsted CE Primary School, our Religious Education curriculum follows the East Sussex Agreed Syllabus Faith and Belief in the 21st Century (2022–2027) and the Church of England’s RE Statement of Entitlement, supported by the NATRE scheme. Guided by our vision to Live, Love, Learn in the Light of the Lord and our values of kindness, love, respect, aspiration, resilience and community, we aim to help all pupils understand Christianity as a living faith while also learning about a range of world religions and worldviews. Our teaching encourages children to show kindness and respect for different beliefs, develop spiritual awareness, and appreciate the wonder of the world around them. Through an enquiry‑based approach, pupils build aspiration as they explore big questions, resilience as they tackle complex ideas, and a strong sense of community as they reflect on the role of faith locally and globally. Our intent is for all children to develop balanced, thoughtful perspectives and the confidence to Live, Love and Learn in the Light of the Lord.

We follow a 2 year curriculum cycle at our school, due to our mixed aged classes and use resources from the NATRE scheme.

Leading Lights

Leading Lights

This year, our Leading Lights will meet every other Thursday.

Leading Lights is a faith council open to all children, whatever their faith or beliefs.

At our school, our Leading Lights play an important role in nurturing our Christian ethos and enriching the spiritual life of our community.

Working closely with our local church, the group helps to support collective worship, create purposeful reflection spaces, and explore the Christian values that shape our daily lives. Together with the church, we aim to make a positive impact in our local area through acts of service, community projects, and supporting those in need.

We believe that spirituality is a vital part of every child’s development - encouraging them to reflect, ask big questions, and understand how their faith or values can inspire kindness, responsibility, and a desire to make the world around them a better place.
